Dr. Thomas Olson is from Pasadena Maryland and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Salisbury University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and minor in chemistry. He attended dental school at the University of Texas Houston, Dental Branch and received numerous awards, including the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society Scholarship for academic performance as well as the University of Texas, Dental Branch Dean’s Excellence Letter. He was also a recipient of the American Association of Dental Research Fellowship for investigating the “Bioengineering of Human Tooth Root Implants.”
After completing dental school in 2007, Dr. Olson attended the Advanced Specialty Education Program in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Maryland Dental School, where he received his Master’s degree and Certificate in Orthodontics in 2010. Dr. Olson completed a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology by investigating the role of geniohyoid muscle activity and movement of the hyoid bone during swallowing. His work was performed in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine. In addition to performing research, he has also served on the cleft palate team at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Keeping current with the latest advancements, Dr. Olson attends many local study clubs and national orthodontic meetings. Recently, he completed advanced education in Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO) to increase orthodontic treatment times up to 50% faster. He was the 2019 president of the York County Dental Society, as well as a member of the Vanguard Society of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, and is board eligible.
In keeping balance with his professional career, Dr. Olson enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and his children Tyler, Evan, and Keira. He also enjoys home improvement projects, learning to play guitar, and is proud to now serve patients in York PA.
