What to Expect on Your First Visit
During your first visit to Olson Orthodontics, we will discuss your concerns and treatment possibilities. Dr. Olson will perform a thorough examination, obtain medical and dental health history, and make recommendations based on the need and timing of your treatment. Dr. Olson may recommend starting treatment, or recall for observation if needed.
There is no charge to you for your initial orthodontic examination. We reserve 45 minutes for your initial appointment. In order to offer this first visit as a courtesy, please contact the office at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule.
If treatment is indicated and you wish to proceed, diagnostic records may be taken at your initial visit in order to save you time and start your treatment. Otherwise, a records appointment will be scheduled. The diagnostic records appointment takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Complete diagnostic records typically include:
- Digital Impressions of the teeth for study models
- Digital photos of the face and teeth
- Digital x-rays
Once the diagnostic records are obtained, these records will be used to develop a custom comprehensive treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment.
If your insurance requires approval for medical necessity, these records will be sent to your insurance company for their approval. Please allow 2 – 4 weeks for this process to be completed.
