Typically Phase I treatment will consist of these methods of treatment:
- Palatal Expanders
- Lingual Arch Space Maintainer
- Partial Braces (On the upper front teeth when needed)
- Removable Bite Plate Retainer
- Facemask or Headgear
Phase I may occur as a single method of treatment, or it may continue into Phase II / Comprehensive Treatment, where Full braces are placed. This will depend on the dental age of your child and the goals we set out to achieve. Overall, we strive to complete a Phase I treatment in about a year. Once Phase I is completed, we will provide a retainer to maintain the Phase I correction. This retainer is adjusted during the transition to adult teeth. An ideal Phase I correction that is maintained may eliminate the need for full braces.
